Colin Michael Murphy of Queens, New York, formerly of Cappog, Ballinode, Co Monaghan, passed away on July 10, 2023. He was 47 years old. Born in Monaghan to John and Maureen Murphy, Colin was the middle of five children. He was raised in Ballinode, where he attended Tydavnet National before graduating from Beechill Secondary School. Growing up, Colin loved freshwater fishing and was an avid Manchester United Fan. He fished regularly for pike at Quiglough, lake, and the Black Water River in Ballinode.
After graduating from secondary school, Colin worked as a finisher in a furniture factory. He moved to England, where he worked as a painter with his father. Colin Would later move to Queens, New York, where he continued to work as a painter and decorator. He would raise his three children; Niamh, Fallone, and Killian. He made great memories with his children going to Long Beach and watching the Mets and the Jets games with his children.
Colin will be remembered as an outgoing person. He loved socializing and was always the life of the party. He loved traveling home to Ireland, teaching his children how to fish, and meeting up with old family friends.
Colin is survived by his three children, Niamh, Fallone, and Killian., His mother, Maureen, His siblings John (Rosey) Murphy, Jennifer (Noel) Ward, Martina (Roy) McElwaine, and Enda and Jessica Murphy. Many nephews, nieces, extended family, and friends will miss him, as well as Uncles, Aunts, and cousins. Colin will be missed by everyone who knew him. He is predeceased by both his father, John, and his grandparents.
A celebration of Colins' Life will take place at the Pelham Funeral Home located at 64 Lincoln Avenue, Pelham, New York on Wednesday, July 19, from 5-8 PM. Colin's remains will be repatriated home to Co Monaghan, Ireland, where a funeral Mass and Burial will be scheduled for a later date. Donations may be made in Colin's memory to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust in lieu of flowers.
