Colleen Baker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Auble Funeral Home - Orrville on Apr. 9, 2025.
Colleen Baker, 77, of Orrville, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, after a period of declining health.
Born on May 28, 1947, in Manhattan, Kansas, Colleen was the daughter of the late Dale and Sally (Roberts) Carleton. She graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1965 and later earned her associate's degree from Davis College.
On July 29, 1975, she married the love of her life, Lyle Eugene Baker, at Augsburg Lutheran Church in Orrville. They shared 46 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 2022.
Colleen worked as an Administrative Assistant at Dunlap Hospital for 14 years, where she was a dedicated and valued team member. Beyond her professional life, she was an active member of the community, contributing her time and talents to various organizations including the Orrville Area Boys and Girls Club, the DMH Hospital Activity Committee, and as the Logistics Chair for the Wayne County Heart Walk. She was also a proud member of Augsburg Lutheran Church, the Jelly City Seniors and the Red Hat Society.
Colleen had a deep love for the little joys in life-baking, scrapbooking, shopping, traveling, and collecting Precious Moments figurines and frog-themed treasures. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her family.
She is survived by her children, Chris (Alyssa) Baker of Toledo and Nathan (Beth) Baker of Orrville; ten beloved grandchildren-Courtney, Kyla, Andrew, Brooklynn, Weston, Cameron, Jordan, Deslie, Joshua Baker and Brenden Betts; and a great-granddaughter, Evelynn Gilliam. She also leaves behind her sister, Cindy (Rod) Wood of Pittsburg, KS; brother-in-law, Jeff Gebhart of Roseville, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Colleen was preceded in death by her sisters, Patricia McMichael and Debby Gebhart; and brother-in-law, Bob McMichael.
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, April 14, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Auble Funeral Home, 512 East Oak Street, Orrville.
A celebration of Colleen's life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Augsburg Lutheran Church, 140 West Water Street, Orrville, with Pastor Sue Rodgers officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Orrville Area Boys & Girls Club, 820 N Ella St., Orrville, OH 44667 or online at oabgc.org.

I remember when Connie and Lyle got married. Connie then worked with my mom at Dunlap until my mom passed away in 1996. I worked with Lyle in the mid-70's and then joined the JCs with him. RIP both my friends.
