Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hansen Mortuary - Rupert on Nov. 6, 2025.
Colleen Crump DeWitt, 82, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, in Pocatello, Idaho. Born on April 19, 1943, in Orem, Utah, to Gwen and Lewis Crump, Colleen lived a life marked by resilience, love, and unwavering kindness.
At the age of two, Colleen lost her sight, but miraculously regained vision in one eye-a moment her family always considered a blessing. She never let her partial blindness define her. With remarkable grace and determination, she navigated life as though she had perfect vision, inspiring everyone around her with her strength and spirit.
Colleen married young and welcomed her first son, Gene. Though that marriage ended, her journey led her to John DeWitt-the love of her life. Together, they built a beautiful life and family, with Colleen embracing John's sons, Jeff and Paul, as her own. Their blended family shared countless adventures: camping trips, hikes, and memorable steak dinners that became cherished traditions.
While living in Pocatello, Colleen and John ran a small store, creating joyful memories and lasting friendships. They later moved to Bear Lake before settling in
Rupert, Idaho, where they spent the last 25 years. In Rupert, Colleen and John were devoted members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, finding community and purpose in their faith.
Colleen had a deep love for gardening and flowers, and her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the beauty of nature. She was known for her selflessness, always putting others before herself, and for the joy she brought to those lucky enough to know her.
Family was the heart of Colleen's world. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and took immense pride in their accomplishments and growth. Her home was always open, filled with laughter, stories, and the warmth of togetherness. Whether it was a holiday gathering, a quiet visit, or a phone call across the miles, Colleen made sure her loved ones felt seen, supported, and deeply loved. Her devotion to family was unwavering, and her legacy will live on in the bonds she nurtured and the values she instilled.
She is survived by her three sons: Gene (Jean) Martin of Pocatello, ID; Jeff (Laurie) DeWitt of Nampa, ID; and Paul (Tina) DeWitt of Mobile, AL. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed by her love and wisdom.
Colleen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John; her parents, Gwen and Lewis; and her siblings-a sister and two brothers-whom she held close in her heart.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Symbii Home Health and Hospice. Their exceptional care and kindness meant more than words can express.
A viewing will be held on November 10, 2025, at Hansen Mortuary at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. A brief graveside service will take place immediately afterward. Arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary.
Colleen's legacy of love, strength, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
