Colleen E. Hamberg passed away on September 11, 2025 in her home in Keosauqua, IA. Colleen was born on July 17, 1958 in Fairfield, IA. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1976. She moved to Colorado with her daughter in 1981 where she was a secretary for Chief Judge Alan Sternberg of the Colorado Court of Appeals for many years. She married and had two sons with Thomas C. Cooper. She returned to live in Iowa with her two boys in 2000. She was married to Cecil Hamberg of Keosauqua from 2009-2022.

She was very involved in her community, volunteering with the PTA, advocating for public school funding, and working at local nursing homes in physical therapy and memory care. She was also a devoted caregiver to her mother, mother-in-law, and father-in-law before their passing. Her service to others and the community is reflected in her children who have worked in public education and emergency services. Colleen was an amazing mother and grandmother who enjoyed spoiling her grandkids. She loved animals and was a pet mom to many dogs, some cats, and even guinea pigs. Some of her best times were spent with close friends including Phyllis Buch, Sandy DeHart, and Linda Ruberg. You could often find them together on the golf course, at the bowling alley, trying to win big on the slot machines, or simply gathered at one of their homes for cards and drinks.

Colleen is survived by her children Jessica Cooper (Amy Stockton), Christopher Cooper (Samantha Volner), and Patrick Cooper (Katya Cooper); her grandchildren Aiden Cooper, Jace Cooper, Bristol Cooper, Phoenix Cooper, and Kynser Newlon; her siblings Connie Pool, Jim Hartman, Mike Hartman, and Mark Hartman. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She is also survived by her best friends Phylis Buch, Sandy DeHart, and Linda Ruberg who were there with her throughout her life's ups, downs, and in-betweens. She was preceded in death by her mother and father Carol and Paul Hartman, mother and father in-law Barb and Bob Hamberg, and cousins Debbie Wesley and Karen Buchan.

Memorial donations can be made to Noah's Ark Animal Shelter. A memorial service in her honor will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the Cranston Family Funeral Home in Fairfield, IA. Colleen wished to be cremated and have her ashes taken for one last motorcycle ride on Great River Road Illinois Side, and then a boat ride on the Des Moines River.

Collen n I were classmates at FHS. After graduation we worked together at the local Gibsons store. She taught me how to make potatoe salad which I have enjoyed ever since I was 18! We shared much laughter together. Rest well my friend

Colleen was a wonderful friend. She was always smiling. Loved her laugh. May God's grace shine upon her and grant her peace.
