Colton Joseph Picou

Colton Joseph Picou, 14, of Abilene, passed away on February 9, 2026.

Colton was born in Biloxi, MS to Alex and Misty on October 7, 2011. He attended school at Moore House Academy taught by a faith led, loving faculty and was surrounded by many sweet classmates. God gifted Colton with exceptional abilities. He excelled in Math, was artistic and enjoyed being creative. Even though he was very quiet, his vocabulary was extensive. He loved geography and flags, and would baffle others at his ability to name any country on a world map. If asked, he could explain details of the exact location. He enjoyed walks, biking, gaming and exploring new places. Last summer he took a road trip with his dad across country to the West coast to explore and made a visit to his best friend, Aiden in AZ. Then, shortly after that he went on an exciting Central European tour with his mom. He deeply cared for ethics and the environment and wished for greener US cities. Colton’s selfless personality will forever be engrained in our hearts and to all those he met.

Colton was preceded in death by his Great Grandparents Ernest and Martha Wright cousin Brayden Grubbs, Pawpaw Dawson and MawMaw Janice Picou.

Colton is survived by both of his parents, Alex and Misty; sister Mireya (Sissy) Grubbs; Aunt Jenny Grubbs; Uncle David Picou; Uncle Johnny Picou (Cindy) Craig, J.J.; Aunt Maegan Picou (Eric) Christopher, Amelia, Liam; Uncle Justin Simoneaux (Janessa) Claire, Julian; Grannan Carolyn Cleveland (Larry); and Papa Don Grubbs (Evon). Pawpaw Alex Picou Sr.; and Granny Leslie Jones (Greg).

Celebration of life service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Mosaic Church, 6610 USHwy 277 in Abilene with Dr. Jay Miller, officiating.

The family appreciates the thought behind memorials, ultimately it’s appreciated to simply pass on acts of kindness. Pick up trash, spread love, support, encouragement to others and especially have awareness that mental health matters. The family of Colton wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Quinn Caldwell OTR,L, who Colton connected with in an undeniable way during an integral part in his health journey(2021-2023).
