Age 82, of Oshtemo, passed away at the Villas of Beacon Place on August 19, 2025. Columbus was born in Williamston, N.C., on September 8, 1942, the son of the late Coleman Columbus Cross Sr. and Beulah Lee. On May 5, 1963, he married the love of his life, Verda Andrews Cross who preceded him in passing in 2012. Columbus was kind, loving and generous. He was dedicated to his family and friends and did his best to provide for those he loved. Raised in North Carolina, he graduated from East End High School in 1961. He soon moved to New York and began working for New York Transit for twenty-six years until retiring in 1997. When not working Columbus enjoyed spending time with family and friends and leaves behind many wonderful memories to be cherished. He also enjoyed working outdoors and watching WWE. Those who knew him will always love and remember his smile and laughter. He is survived by two grandchildren, Jace Slocumb and Heather Chel'Le Worthem; six great-grandchildren, Melanie, Kairo, Nikolai, Naieem, Morocco and Phoenix; siblings, Rita Cross-Riddick, Juilette Cross-Pervis; many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
