Comas Fay Montgomery, Sr., age 76, of Murfreesboro, passed away on March 3, 2010 at his residence. He was a native of Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee but resided in Murfreesboro for most of his life. He was a member of Minerva Drive Church of Christ. Comas worked with his sons in their real estate and auction business since 1973. He was president of Comas Montgomery Realty & Auction Company. Prior to being in the real estate and auction business he owned Montgomery's Market and was one of the founders of Citizen Central Bank. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was also inducted into the Tennessee Auctioneers Hall of Fame; he was past President of The Tennessee Auctioneers Association and Middle Tennessee Association of Realtors. Comas was preceded in death by his parents, Joe L. & Leona Davis Montgomery; daughter-in-law, Laurie Montgomery; brothers, Willard, Charles and Jimmy Montgomery; and sister, Gilda Clark. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Rose Neely Montgomery of Murfreesboro; sons, Comas Fay Montgomery, Jr “Chip� (Cheri), Carl (Jennifer) Montgomery and Charlie Montgomery; daughter, Connie Louise Montgomery; brother, Ray (Loudelia) Montgomery of Nashville; sister, Louise Smithson of Murfreesboro; and ten grandchildren, 1st Lt. John Comas (Ashton) Montgomery, Hannah Montgomery, Catherine Everetts, Joshua Carroll, Chelsey Montgomery, Spencer Montgomery, Carter Montgomery, Elijah Comas Montgomery, Ezra Comas Montgomery and Emilia Montgomery. Chapel service for Comas will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Ron Harper officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. His auction team will serve as active pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Kittrell School 7801 Old Woodbury Road, Readyville, TN 37149 in honor of Comas Montgomery. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, March 5, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home, 820 S. Church St., Murfreesboro, TN 37130.
