Conard “Con” de Boom, age 94 of Sioux Center, Iowa died Monday, December 22, 2025, at Crown Pointe Estates in Sioux Center.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center, with Reverend Duane Tinklenberg, officiating. A prayer service will take place at 9:30 AM at Bethel Christian Reformed Church with burial to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton.

Visitation will be Friday, December 26th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center.
Memorials may be directed to Ireton Christian School.
Conard T. de Boom was born July 19, 1931, to Tony and Fannie (Altena) de Boom west of Ireton, Iowa. He was raised in the Ireton and Maurice area. He graduated from country school and attended two years of high school. After the service, he attended 2 ½ years on the GI bill.
Due to the draft during WWII, he worked in the farm fields at a very young age. He helped with haying, threshing, shucking oats, cultivating and picking corn, and later with custom baling. He served with the U.S. Army Occupational Forces in Germany during the Berlin Cold War in 1953 to 1954 in the 2nd Armored Division 12th A.I.B. as a field radio mechanic. He attained the rank of Sgt. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserve for eight years. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 6129
Con married Adelyn Ruth Netten on March 5, 1952, at the Ireton Christian Reformed Church. They farmed southeast of Ireton and retired late 1996. During the course of their marriage, Con served on the Ireton Christian School board and the board of the church as a member of the Ireton CRC. Con enjoyed farming, welding, and raising Black Angus cattle. They enjoyed going to farm shows, music festivals, accordion music, fiddle music, and cherry nut ice cream. He also entertained with his many pony cart rides. They retired to Sioux Center Iowa, in March of 1999.
Adelyn passed away in July 2004 after 52 years of marriage. They had seven children.
He is survived by a son, Terry and Shirley de Boom; five daughters, Cheryl Rehdantz, Linda and Ret Col. Rocky Ellens, Judy and Eric Steggerda, Laura Weiler, and Cindy and Byron Eekhoff; 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; one brother, Stanley and Wilma De Boom; sister-in-law, Sherry De Boom; nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janet; wife, Adelyn; a sister and brother-in-law, Juleen and Hank Hofland; and a brother, Norman De Boom.
