Davis, Connell Edward
Connell Edward Davis, a natural athlete, free spirit, and loving son passed away unexpectedly at his home in Kyle, Texas on Saturday, July 30th, 2022, at the age of 35. Connell was born in Philadelphia, PA on Wednesday, May 20th, 1987, to Shannon Hill. As a baby, he moved with his mother, and older brother Qadiyr to State College, PA, while she attended Penn State University. Upon leaving Penn State for his mom's career, Connell lived in many places until the family settled in Tennessee. While in Tennessee, his Mom, met and married John Boesen. Together, as a new family, they moved to the U.S. Army base in Fort Sill, OK, where John's daughter Jennifer and son John Jr joined the family.
After John's retirement from the military, the family found a new home in Portland, a sleepy coastal Texas community. Connell attended Gregory-Portland Middle - High School, where he excelled at sports. He found a passion playing football as a star running back, and a love for track and field. He earned numerous medals and All-American titles in both sports. His prowess earned him two full-ride scholarships, one for football and one for track. Connell accepted an athletic scholarship from The University of Missouri in Columbia and played football for three years until a shoulder injury caused him to leave the football program. Several months later, Connell was sought out by Texas A&M-Kingsville and offered a new full-ride scholarship to play football and run track. He played for a couple of seasons, but personal struggles led him to leave school.
Several years passed and Connell joined the US Army and married. A string of unfortunate events ended both his military commitment and his marriage. Just as the Covid pandemic arose, Connell had found a new love and direction when he met and ultimately became engaged to Dr. Samantha Hernandez. Although Connell faced many challenges and obstacles, Samatha's love and support was always a constant in his life. Connell loved the outdoors, the beach, surfing, and fishing and always planned to live off the grid in a cabin and grow his own food. He was a free spirit and spent much time in deep thought. The last years of Connell's life were difficult, but the love of Samantha, his mother and father, and his family always surrounded him. Connell was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wilbert Hill, who guided him into the arms of Jesus, along with his Aunt Janice.
Connell is survived by his parents Shannon and John Boesen, his siblings: Jennifer Clayton and her husband Ty, John A. Boesen and his wife Jody, Qadiyr Davis and his wife Marissa, and his youngest brother Bryce Boesen. He will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews: Erica, Tyrell, Alexander, Anaya, Jessi and Kano. He also leaves behind his grandmother Mildred Hill, great Aunts and Uncle, and his aunts and uncles: Janice and Kenneth Baston, Gregory and Pamela Hill, Sherrell Hill and her partner Dorsey Ward, Andrea and Jon Jenkins, Julie and James Shepherd, Gerald Boesen, his beloved fiancée Samantha Hernandez, and a host of extended family and friends.
Please join Connell's family in celebrating his amazing life at 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 6th, 2022, at Harrell Funeral Home, 1715 Kirby, Kyle, TX.

I went to high school him and I apologize for this being so late... i just heard we lost an amazing person almost a year ago. He had such a beautiful soul and was such a wonderful friend to everyone. It broke my heart when I found this out!!! At least we know with his kind soul he is resting in peace. I cannot believe I am 36 and lost 2 school mates already that had beautiful and amazing souls. My prayers are sent to the family. Connell was a wonderful person!!!

I was at Mizzou with Connell. I have fond memories of picking him up for workouts, skate boarding and talking about life. Today (8/14) a song by Sublime came on the radio (Connell introduced me to Sublime). I thought, I need to look up Connell and see what he´s up to. Unfortunately I saw this sad news. I remember like it was yesterday, sitting in his dorm room as we listened to Sublime. My best to his family and friends. Let´s cherish all of our days.

I appreciate and think often of the time Connell was in my life.

I knew your son who was my daughter (Kristin´s) age. My husband and I thoroughly loved watching him in football and track. He was so skilled and it was a beautiful thing to see. I am so sorry for your loss.
