ADRIAN – Connie Jean Ackley of Adrian, died peacefully Thursday afternoon, January 18, 2024, at the Hospice of Lenawee home, one day following her 77th birthday. She was born January 17, 1947, in Adrian, the daughter of Milton and Barbara (Luck) Huff.
A lifelong Adrian resident, Connie graduated from Madison High School with the Class of 1965. On June 22, 1970, in Clayton, she married the love of her life, Gary Lyn Ackley. He survives. Connie was employed in housekeeping for over 25 years for the former Herrick Hospital in Tecumseh. She loved to clean and dance, and is remembered for her sense of humor that made her always fun to be around. Connie enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening, fishing and mushroom hunting each spring. Family was her greatest passion in life, and she treasured time spent with them, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to her husband of over 53 years, Gary, are four children, Aaron (Karen) Ricketts of Adrian, Shawn Trombley of Adrian, Jerry (Rachel) Ackley of Manistee, MI, and Chad (Nicole) Ackley of Adrian; a sister, Karen (Jim) Miller of Tecumseh; brother, David Huff of Adrian; ten grandchildren, Page, Andrew, Natasha, Nicole, Brent, Zachary, Carter, Devon, Payton and Cody; and four great-grandchildren, Bentley, Ariana, Jolynn and Shauna. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Marlene Olivarez-Huff.
In accordance with Connie's wishes, cremation will take place. The family is planning to host a Celebration of Life at a later date.
