Connie Jean Davis

Connie Jean Davis, age 73, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024 surrounded by family. Connie was born to Lela Wilson and Eugene Waits on December 21, 1950 in Provo, Utah. Her family moved around a lot when she was little and she lived in Provo, Springville, Salem, and Idaho. Connie attended junior high and high school in Spanish Fork, Utah, and graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1969.

Connie met and fell in love with Stirling Edward Davis Jr. in high school. They continued to date even after he joined the United States Marine Corps and was sent to Vietnam. They exchanged many letters while she completed her senior year of high school. Eddie returned safely and they were married April 17, 1971 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ed and Connie made their home in Goshen, and Connie attended Hollywood Beauty College in Provo. They built a salon in the back of their home where she did hair for over 20 years. Her clients weren’t just clients, they were her friends.

Their first daughter Amie was born in January of 1972, then their son Chris in February of 1973, and another daughter, Mindee in May of 1975. As a family they spent weekends camping, attending meets with the Goshen Valley Riding Club, and hunting. Again there were so many lasting friendships formed and millions of memories made.

Connie worked as a school bus driver for Nebo School District. She drove routes in Goshen, Genola, Mosida, and Elberta for over 30 years. She loved the kids that she drove, and many of those friendships lasted the rest of her life. She also met and made many lifelong friends with the other drivers. Connie also worked as a receptionist for Dr. John Callister for many years. She grew to love the people she worked with as well as their families and the patients.

Connie loved to travel, and was always up for a trip anywhere. She especially loved the beach. She never learned to swim and was terrified of the ocean, but she loved the beach. She made several trips across the United States to drive new school buses home for the district. It didn’t matter who it was or where they were going, she was happy to join in. Connie enjoyed playing softball, and was the pitcher on her women’s fastpitch league team. They traveled all over the state and had a lot of fun. She played for years, until her chronic back problems prevented her from continuing. Connie loved to shoot archery in high school, and won many tournaments. After she was married she joined a bowling league with friends and had so much fun!

Connie was an avid quilter. She made the most beautiful quilts! Even when she would travel she always had smaller pieces that she would hand sew and then add to a quilt later. She was always making a fun blanket or pillow case for her children and grandchildren. She loved colors and patterns and could put them together in incredible designs. Hundreds of people were blessed to be gifted one of her creations.

Connie was blessed with 28 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She knew and loved each and every one of them, and they loved her! She was the most fun grandma and she got talked into some crazy shenanigans, actually most of them were probably her idea! They knew they could talk to her about anything. She would always tell them the truth, even if it hurt, but they knew it came from a place of love.

Connie was an amazing example of Christ-like love and service. You rarely even needed to ask before she would jump right in and do everything she could to make life better. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and she served in many callings including Primary President, and a leader in the Young Women’s Organization.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lela Ericksen and Eugene Waits, her step father Daniel James Ericksen, her grandson, Davis Bradly Balzly, and her brother-in-law, Gordon Davis. She is survived by her husband Eddie Davis, her children, Chris Davis, Amie Belnap (Joe), and Mindee, as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Connie leaves behind a huge hole in so many lives that won’t be easy to fill. She also leaves behind an example of unconditional love and friendship that will be hard to match.

Friends and family may pay their respects at a viewing on Thursday, January 18th from 6-8 pm at Brown Family Mortuary, 66 South 300 East, Santaquin, Utah. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 19th at 11:00 am at the Goshen Ward Building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 75 South Center Street, Goshen, Utah with a viewing from 9:30-10:45 am. Interment will be in the Goshen City Cemetery.
