Fruit Heights, UT - Connie Montgomery Gibbs passed away peacefully on July 18, 2024. She is survived by her daughter Gina Gibbs Hendrickson (Cory) and grandchildren Easton Richard Hendrickson (25), Sierra Rose Hendrickson (22) and Brighton Todd Hendrickson (15). She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Charles Gibbs, her two sons Tosh and Todd, Brothers Ron, Wayne, Clair and her parents Beth Fowers Montgomery and Faunt Montgomery.
Connie was born on May 7, 1944, in Ogden, Utah to Beth and Faunt Montgomery. Connie was the oldest of four and the only girl. Connie grew up in Clearfield, UT where she studied piano/organ, ballet, cheerleading, and learned many skills from helping her mother. Connie attended Davis High and graduated in 1962.
After high school Connie attended BYU Hawaii. She worked as the executive secretary to the President at BYU Hawaii while attending school. She also met and married Richard Charles Gibbs while at BYU Hawaii on June 7, 1968. Connie and Richard were blessed with 3 beautiful children (Tosh, Todd and Gina).
Connie and Richard moved all over the US while Richard worked his way up the ladder as a Hospital Administrator. They were able to experience Hawaii, Missouri, Colorado, West Virginia, Iowa, Alabama, Ohio, California and Illinois.
Connie worked as executive secretary to the Director of Special Education Dept at Davis County School District in Farmington, Utah. She retired after 35 years at the school district.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she was a dedicated and faithful servant in both her church callings and temple work. Connie served in many leadership positions, teacher in every auxiliary, as a pianist and organist. She especially cherished her time serving a church service mission at the conference center. Her unwavering testimony and Christ-like example were a beacon to all that knew her. Connie was an accomplished pianist that generously shared her musical talents. She accompanied many far and wide. She had the privilege of playing at the dedication of the Temple in Chicago and Bountiful. Connie was a devoted member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She donated many hours of service sewing and quilting many blankets for those in need through the organizations she served in.
As we say our goodbyes, we do so with a heart full of love and gratitude for the wonderful woman who endured and sacrificed so much for her family and others. Connie's journey was one of remarkable faith, resilience and service. Her legacy of service and grit continues on inside of all of those who she met and influenced.
We would like to thank all the many people that have shared their love and service over the years. Her amazing friends and neighbors from the Fruit Heights 6th ward. Jim and Lori Hyde. The staff at Fairfield Village of Layton, and her Hospice nurses.
A Graveside Service will be held Friday July 26, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the West Point City Cemetery, 80 N. 4000 W. West Point, Utah 84015. Friends may visit with family Thursday July 25, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah.
