Connie Lambert Obituary

Connie Lambert age 81, of Hegewisch, formerly of Calumet City passed away peacefully at home on September 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Connie Lambert was the kind of person who made everyone feel like family. Whether you knew her for decades or just met her over a beer or coffee and a donut, her warmth, humor, and infectious charm left a lasting impression.

She was the devoted lifelong companion of Jane Hopkins, with whom she shared a beautiful journey filled with laughter, love, and unwavering support. Their bond was a testament to true partnership-rooted in friendship, respect, and joy.

Connie was a proud and loving mother to Todd (Catherine) Bohacik, and carried the memories of her late sons Wayne Bohacik II and Ryan Bohacik close to her heart. She made their home the regular gathering place for all their childhood friends. Her love extended deeply to her grandchildren: Adam (Kristin) Bohacik, Todd "TJ" (Carissa) Bohacik, Tyler Bohacik, Veronica (William) Gilmartin, Monica (Bryan) Novatny, and Angelica (Luke McWilliams) Bohacik-each of whom she adored and celebrated in her own special way. She was an adoring great-grandmother to 14 great-grandchildren, who brought sparkle to her eyes and stories to her heart.

She was the dear sister of Phyllis (James) Clegg, and was preceded in death by her brothers Percy and Fred Lambert. Connie was also a treasured aunt, great-aunt, and great-great aunt to many nieces and nephews, who knew her as the one who never missed a birthday party, always had a kind word, and could make you laugh even on your worst day.

Born to Walter "Elmer" and Vivian Lambert, Connie inherited their strength, compassion, and sense of community. She poured those values into everything she did-from her years as a restaurateur and proud owner of Pappa Bear Donuts, where she served up sweet treats and smiles, to her tireless work with the Hegewisch Community Committee, where she served as both board member and president.

Connie was a woman of deep faith and a lifelong member of First United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hammond, Indiana where she had been baptized as an infant. Her church was not just a place of worship-it was a second home, filled with people she loved and served with grace.

She was fun-loving, fiercely loyal, and endlessly kind. She had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and loved. Her legacy is not just in the accomplishments she achieved, but in the lives she touched, the laughter she shared, and the love she gave so freely.

Connie will be deeply missed-but her spirit lives on in the stories we tell, the traditions we carry forward, and the love that continues to ripple through generations.
