Connie Nelson, age 75 passed away at Edgewood Vista in Brainerd, MN. on April 19, 2024. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday May 18, 2024 at 11:00am at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa, MN. There will be a visitation held one hour prior to the service at the church. Lunch will be served following the service.
Connie was born November 24, 1948, in Minnewaukan, ND to Laurice and Signe (Swenson) Ness. She spent her childhood in Wadena, MN, and graduated from Wadena High School in 1966.
On October 12, 1968, she married Larry Helsene. They welcomed a son, Chris in 1972 and a daughter, Erica in 1974. Connie worked at Montgomery Wards.
Connie married David Nelson on May 24, 1980, and they made a home in Chisago City, MN later moving to Brainerd, MN. Connie worked as an administrative assistant at Mills Corporate Office and Ascensus. They spent many years enjoying Love Lake and a family cabin in Ironwood, MI.
Connie enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time with family. Connie’s greatest joy was spending time with and watching her grandchildren at school activities and sporting events.
Connie was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa, MN.
Connie is survived by her Son Chris (Julie) Helsene of Brainerd, MN; daughter Erica (Jon) Henke of Brainerd, MN; sister and brother: Shari (Michael) Knoshaug, Williston ND, and Larry (Cheryl) Ness of Benson MN, Larry Helsene of Perham MN; grandchildren Zachary and Katherine Henke; Evelyn, Tim, and Joey Helsene.
She was preceded in death by her Husband David Nelson; parents; sister Loretta Klug; niece LaShel “Sheli” Klug-Oliver.
Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Baxter.
