Connie Dawn Smith, known affectionately as "Ahni" Strawberry in Cherokee, peacefully left this world on June 29, 2025, at the age of 59. Born on August 14, 1965, in Los Angeles, California, she was the beloved daughter of Bennie Smith and Louella (Jones) Smith. A cherished resident of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Connie will be remembered for her unwavering love of family and her kindness toward all living things.
Connie was a devoted daughter, sister, and aunt who poured her heart into caring for others. She took great pride in her nieces and nephews, finding joy in their accomplishments and cherishing the time spent together. Throughout her life, she was a steadfast support to her family, particularly during the later years of her parents' lives. Connie was known for her warm spirit, infectious laughter, and the love she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her.
A compassionate heart, Connie had a deep-seated love for her animals and shared countless joyful moments with her mother, Louella. She was a gentle presence whose kindness and humility left a lasting impact on all who crossed her path.
Connie will be lovingly remembered by her siblings, Doris Moore, Alan Smith, Ferlin Smith, Carolyn Ochoa, Aaron Smith, Jeff Smith, and Gabe Smith; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other dear family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Bennie Smith, and her brother, Russ Smith.
Funeral services for Connie will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Hart Funeral Home. Family and friends will have the opportunity to pay their respects during the visitation from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Following the service, Connie will be laid to rest at Greenleaf Cemetery, where her memory will continue to reside in the hearts of all who loved her.
In this time of sorrow, let us celebrate the life of Connie Dawn Smith and the profound love she shared with everyone around her. May she rest in peace.
