Connie Sue Overbey Tackett, age 79 of Caryville, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at her home. She was born on November 25, 1945 to the late Edgar and Josie Morton Overbey in LaFollette. Connie was a talented educator having taught at Lake City High School, Jacksboro Junior High, and then Campbell County High School. She taught music, choir, business, and typing. Connie was saved and baptized at Demory Baptist Church at a young age and then joined Willowbrook Baptist Church where she faithfully served for many years. She was a skilled artisan doing leather crafting, oil painting, and photography. She was well known for her wedding cakes and could sing like an angel. Her family was her world. She was a beloved wife, mother, Nana, and sister. She loved travelling, especially with her husband to their Colorado cabin. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by siblings, Charlotte Owens, Frank Overbay, JoAnn Dagley; and nephew, Mark Owens.
She is survived by: husband of 57 years, Harold Dean Tackett; children, Dawn Clark and husband Richard, and Brian Tackett and wife Abby; grandchildren, Kalyn Watson (Trey), Joseph Clark (Delaney), Jacob Clark (Isabelle), Jonathan Clark, Emily Isaacs (Zachary), Jared Tackett, and Peyton Tackett; great-grandchildren, Elloise Mae Watson and Everly Sue Isaacs; brother, Louis Overbey and wife Carol; several nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the Leach Family Funeral Home and Cremation on Saturday, November 22, 2025 from 4-7pm with the funeral service to follow at 7pm with Pastor Roger Leach officiating. Her graveside service will be on Sunday, November 23, 2025 at 2pm at the Pond Cemetery in the Demory community. www.leachfamilyfuneralhome.com
