Connie Sue Vance Threadgill passed away on November 15, 2023. Born on August 8, 1945 to Cullen Boren Vance and Carrie Larsen Vance and raised in Edna, Texas, Connie was known for her selflessness, kindness, and hardworking nature. Her vibrant personality and generous spirit touched the lives of many.

Connie was a dedicated registered nurse for over 30 years. Her journey in the field of nursing began with her pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in 1967. Throughout her career, she also served as a case manager, guiding patients and their families through the complexities of healthcare insurance and post-hospital care. Her detailed knowledge and thorough understanding were invaluable to many who sought her assistance during challenging times.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Connie found immense joy in various hobbies and interests. She had a deep love for plants and gardening, spending countless hours tending to her yard. Her green thumb was renowned among friends and neighbors as she grew delicious tomatoes, jalapenos, and lemons that she would generously share.

Volunteering was an integral part of Connie's life. For many years, she dedicated her time to the Barrington Living History Farm at Washington-on-the-Brazos. Dressed in period clothing, much of which she sewed herself, she educated guests about the rich history preserved at the farm.

Connie cared deeply for stray animals, particularly the cats that wandered her neighborhood. She also treasured the unique family heirlooms passed down from her parents and grandparents. Her collection of crystal and dishware was extensive, with many pieces acquired during her antiquing adventures with her dear friend, Kathryn. She greatly enjoyed playing cards with friends and family and delighted in teaching new games to both her daughter and granddaughter.

Family was always Connie's top priority, and she devoted herself to ensuring their happiness and well-being. As a mother, Connie consistently put the needs of her children above her own, instilling in them qualities of love and compassion. She adored her granddaughter, Emily, whom she played an active role in raising.

Connie is survived by her children, Billy Newsom and Stacy, Melinda Brown, David Newsom, and Kevin Newsom; grandchildren: Emily Brown, Christian Newsom, Emma Newsom, Justin Newsom and Shawna; great-grandchild: Braytin Newsom; sister: Caren Cobb; cousins: David Rose, Mark Rose, Lanelle Wells, Evelyn McCullough; as well as her furry family member: Lil' Bit.

We celebrate the life of Connie Sue Vance Threadgill—a remarkable woman who exemplified what it means to care for others selflessly. Connie's impact on those around her went far beyond what words can express. Her selfless nature and unwavering dedication have left an indelible mark on the lives she touched. She will be remembered as a beacon of kindness and generosity who brought joy to everyone fortunate enough to cross paths with her.
