Obituary published on Legacy.com by Legacy Funeral Center - Scott Chapel on Dec. 29, 2025.
Conrad "Gerry" Garrison, age 70, of New Albany, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at Baptist Floyd Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and steady kindness that will long be remembered by all who knew him.
Born to the late Patrick Edward and Marie Ann (Gettlefinger) Garrison, Gerry was a man of strong work ethic and quiet pride. He dedicated more than twenty years of faithful service as a maintenance technician at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville, where his dependability, skill, and willingness to help never went unnoticed. He found fulfillment in honest work and took pride in caring for the places and people around him.
Outside of work, Gerry embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. He had a lifelong love for motorcycles and the thunderous excitement of NHRA drag racing, often found smiling as the roar of engines echoed through the air. He enjoyed attending classic car shows, admiring the craftsmanship and power that stirred his soul. Yet, just as meaningful to him were the quiet moments at home-especially those spent with his family.
Gerry cherished time with his loved ones, particularly his grandchildren, whom he adored. He delighted in bird watching with his grandbabies, carefully feeding the nuthatches and hummingbirds that frequented his yard, turning simple moments into lasting memories filled with laughter and wonder. His gentle presence, warm heart, and patient nature made him a source of comfort and joy to all generations of his family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Amie Garrison; step-daughter, Bobbie Jo Daugherty; and brother, Ronnie.
Gerry leaves behind his loving wife, Carol Sue Garrison, whose life was deeply enriched by his companionship and devotion. He is also survived by his stepsons, Brent Basham (Katie), Bryce Basham, and Robert Basham (Brettney); step-daughter, Jenna Bratcher (Andy); brother, Donald Garrison; grandchildren Shane Kern, Isaiah Davey, Keylen Garrison, Kennedy Basham, Braxton Basham, Konner Basham, Emerson Basham, Evander Basham, Addyson Bratcher, Jake Bratcher, and Ellie Bratcher; and his cherished great-grandson, Kingston, who brought him immense pride and joy.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Legacy Funeral Center: Scott Chapel (921 Main Street, Jeffersonville). Friends may visit from Noon until the time of service on Monday.
Conrad will be remembered for his steady heart, his love of family, the rumble of engines he so enjoyed, and the quiet beauty he found in nature. His memory will live on in the lives he touched and the love he so freely gave.
