Constance Bretscher Obituary Constance Felten Bretscher, January 10, 1921-January 19, 2025. Constance passed away at age 104 on January 19, 2025 at Avalon Springs, Valparaiso, In. She was born on January 10, 1921 in Bethalto, IL to the Rev. William G. & Katherine C. Bruegmann. After graduating high school she attended Valparaiso University, graduating in 1942 with a bachelor's degree in music. In 1942 she married Dr. Arnold Felten, who preceded her in death in 1998. She was the beloved mother to Richard Felten, who also preceded her in death in 1977, and Michael (Lois) Felten, who survives. She had a long and fruitful career as a Lutheran school teacher and choir director, mostly at Immanuel Lutheran School, Valparaiso. In 2000 Connie married the Rev. Paul G. Bretscher, who preceded her in death in 2016 and became the beloved step-mother to Pauls 10 children and their families. Connie touched many lives through her many talents including teaching, music, gardening and writing, all to glorify God. She truly lived life to the fullest, giving thanks in all circumstances. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1700 Monticello Park Drive, Valparaiso, IN 46383 on Saturday, 2/15/25.
