Constance Yvonne Britt Garrett was born December 9, 1941 to Frederick Britt and Mirtie Strader Britt in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was known by all as Connie.

At an early age Constance professed her love for Christ and was baptized at New Garfield Missionary Baptist Church. In 1973 she was married to Owen Garrett who preceded her in death.

Connie received her formal education at Indianapolis Public School #19, and Crispus Attucks High School. She was employed with the Internal Revenue Service where she retired after many years of service. Connie was a member of the Elks' Lodge; she enjoyed bowling, and shopping. Connie owned a red custom-made van that had a picture of Elvis Presley, that everyone loved to stop and admire, snapping pictures wherever she went. Connie later relocated to Valdosta, Georgia with her special companion, Gerald Gaines, where they traveled to cities playing golf tours. She was also a person known to speak her mind.

Constance Yvonne Britt Garrett departed this life on December 21, 2025. Her parents; sisters: Frances Whitner, Aurelia Williams, Cordelia Silves, Corine Britt, Lorine Smith; and brothers, Homer and Henry Britt, all preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Jeffery D. Cook; special companion, Gerald Gaines; grandson, Marvin Sanders; granddaughter, Rochelle Rowe (Sean); great-grandchildren: Deandra, Antoinette, Damoine Sr. and Dionna; great-great-grandchildren: Landon, Major, Marlo, Damoine Jr., Dakari and Alaya; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
