FRANK WHITE Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stuart Mortuary, Inc. - Indianapolis on Jan. 8, 2026.
Frank Lee White, Sr., 93, of Indianapolis, spent his life using his hands-building engines, tending tomatoes and flowers in his immaculate yard, steering a fishing boat, and reaching across the miles through FaceTime to check in with the grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-granddaughter who brought him joy. He departed this life peacefully on December 28, 2025, in Woodinville, Washington, after a full life marked by faith, hard work, and devotion to his family.
Born on October 31, 1932, in Herndon, Kentucky, to Jesse Lee White and Russell M. White (Caudle), Frank came of age in Indianapolis, where he graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1950. On January 18, 1952, he married Joyce Irene Bebley, beginning a partnership that would span more than six decades and bring three children into the world.
Frank's career reflected his craftsman's instincts and steady ambition. He worked the lines at Kingans Meat Company and Hygrade before joining Detroit Diesel Allison's factory floor, then honed his skills as a mechanic at Swinford Service Station. After a stint at Yellow Freight, he rose to area manager at the Chrysler Corporation Foundry in Indianapolis, where he retired.
Outside of work, Frank was a man of rhythm and routine. He was a faithful member of Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Assembly and rarely missed the Tuesday Midday Bible class at Zion Tabernacle Apostolic Faith Church, taught by Dr. Thomas E. Griffith. He kept a meticulous lawn and grew tomatoes and flowers that neighbors noticed. His kitchen turned out dressing and barbecue, fried corn, and hot water cornbread that became family legends. He spent long hours
on the water with his brothers, fishing rod in hand, and never missed a chance to watch a game-specially when his great-grandkids were playing.
What his family will remember most, though, was how he showed up when you sat down together. "Let me ask you a question," he'd start-and those questions always came in the same order: Was your work stable? Did you need anything? Frank measured his own peace by whether his family was taken care of.
Frank is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Denise Hart; his son, Frank Lee White Jr. (Becky); his brother, Russell "Chicken" White; granddaughters Starla Denise Hart and Makenzie Norris (Chris); grandson Micah Alexander White; great-grandson Miles Scott Officer; great-great-granddaughter Audri Olivia; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends who knew him as steady, present, and true.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Russell White; his brother, Howard Hasten White; his son, Ron Norman White; his beloved wife, Joyce Irene White; and his great-granddaughter, Amber Lauryn Morgan.
