Constance "Connie" McCollum, 98, of Burlington, died Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born October 12, 1927, in Granger, Missouri, she was the daughter of Ira B. and Bertha Gertrude Cooper.
She married Cecil "Wayne" McCollum on September 15, 1945. He preceded her in death on September 6, 2017.
Connie was a homemaker when Jerry was young. She later worked for Champions for 16 years and then Rutherford's for four years.
She was a member of First Christian Church ~ Disciples of Christ.
She loved quality time with her family, travel, joking around and playfully teasing her grandkids, bingo, quarter slots, shopping, needlepoint, dining, and visiting friends at Wendy's and Napoli's Pizza.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Barbara McCollum; grandchildren, Bobbie (Tom) Cobb, Chad (Dilphia) McCollum, Kimberly (Marty) Taeger, and Kelli (Nick) MacGregor; great-grandchildren, Joshua Haworth, Brittany (Tripp) King, Ashley McCollum, Tyler Cobb, Brittany (Gage) Grissom, Dilynn Taeger, Madison Taeger, and Camden Carlson; great-great-grandchildren, Avery Burke, Brantley, Blaze, and Blakely Grissom, and Cameron Cobb; brother, Ronnie (Betty) Cooper; and oodles of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jerry McCollum; and eight brothers and sisters, two in infancy.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Cremation has been accorded and entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
