Cheryl M. Piper, 69, of Opdyke, Illinois, died on April 16, 2024 at her home from some lengthy health issues.
She was born on September 16, 1954, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, to the late Clyde V. "Pop" and Doris M. (Whisenhunt) Howell.
Mrs. Piper is survived by her significant other, Garry Piper of Opdyke; sons, Shaun Thompson and Scott Thompson and wife, Tracy, all of Mount Vernon; daughter, Brandy Sharp and husband, Sean of Bonnie, Illinois; grandchildren, Trent Thompson, Derrick Thompson, Brittany (Thompson) Downes, Amber Thompson, Allyssa Thompson, Haley Sharp, Tristen (Sharp) Jelley, and Trey Sharp; seventeen great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty L. Tate and Billie E. Howell, both of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Cheryl was preceded in death by her brothers, Clyde "Jake" Howell and Jimmy Don Howell; grandparents, Frank and Georgia Whisenhunt and Robert and Letha Howell; and her great-grandparents.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed camping, cooking, crafting, and growing house plants before her health declined.
A Visitation will be held Monday, April 22, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 10:00 am at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon with Mr. Marty Mills officiating. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Cheryl's honor to the Piper Family, in care of Garry Piper.
