Cora O'Quinn Cheek, 95, of Rhine, Georgia, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, at Dodge County Hospital in Eastman, Georgia. Born on September 13, 1930, in Glenwood, Georgia, Cora's life was a testament to her unwavering dedication to her family, her students, and her faith.

A funeral service will be held at the Chapel of Lowes Funeral Home on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. Mr. Bobby Ryals will officiate. Interment will follow at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery. Cora is survived by her son, Kevin Joe Cheek (Sonya) of Lumber City; granddaughter, Kerri Joy Cheek, also of Lumber City; and her brother, Willard O'Quinn of Glenwood. Cora is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph V. Cheek, siblings, Joe Herman O'Quinn, John Irvin O'Quinn, Elise Fountain, Laverne Fountain, Eleene Davis, Mae Moncus and Ora O'Quinn and her parents, Joe and Lola Warnock O'Quinn.

A lifelong learner and educator, Cora attended Brewton Parker College, Georgia Southern College, and Georgia Southwestern College, where she earned a master's degree in education. Her passion for knowledge and her commitment to nurturing young minds defined her career as a teacher. Cora devoted 31 years of her life to shaping young lives through education at Rhine Elementary School, retiring from the Dodge County Board of Education.

After retiring, Cora remained active by tutoring and substitute teaching, which she enjoyed. She loved playing the piano and organ, spending time with her family and sharing fellowship with her church family. She attended Bethel Methodist Church.

As we bid farewell to Cora O'Quinn Cheek, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a legacy of love, education, and faith.
