Cora Whitfield Obituary
Inman, SC – Cora Lee Whitfield, 89, wife of the late William Dean Whitfield, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.
Born November 27th, 1933 in Spartanburg, SC, Cora Lee was the daughter of the late Jamie and Rev. Clarence E. Chapman.
She was a graduate of the Spartanburg General Hospital School of Nursing and remained dedicated to the medical field until retirement.
Cora Lee was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church of Inman, SC. She loved her children, her family, her church and her Lord. Cora Lee also enjoyed photography, gardening and traveling.
Cora Lee is survived by her children, Paula Ruehling (Savannah, GA) & Robbie Johnson (Campobelllo, SC) and six grandchildren: Heather Hand, Bonnie (Jeff) Kaar, Jesse (Meagan) Ruehling, Andy (Roshanda) McKelvey, Michael (Samantha) McKelvey, six great grandchildren: Caitlin, Elise, Zoey, Adaline, Leland & Cora, & loving sister Vivian (Heyward) Calvert and brother Rev. Everette (Jenny) Chapman.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased in death by a son Mark Johnson and a daughter Jennie Johnson.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Lakewood Assisted Living for their kindness, compassion, and care.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 9th at Seawright Funeral Home 1:00 pm– 1:45 PM. Funeral services at 2:00 PM officiated by Rev. Everett Chapman and Rev. Heyward Calvert. Graveside Services at Roselawn Cemetery following the services.
