Cordelia (Bobbie) Graham Nordwall
Cordelia (Bobbie) Graham Nordwall, 96 years old, of Fallon, Nevada, passed away on Nov 11, at her home on the Stillwater Reservation. She was born on Aug. 5, 1929, in Schurz, Nevada to Bodie and Alice (Hicks) Graham.
She attended Churchill County schools, and after graduation attended Haskell Indian Institute in Lawrence, Kansas. Her primary vocation was secretarial skills which she put to good use when working with her husband Adam at his pest control company in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Bobbie (as she preferred to be called) met Adam at Haskell and together they moved to the San Francisco area. There, they both became deeply involved in the urban Indian setting. They attended Native American pow-wows across the U.S. They were ‘adopted’ by a Crow family where she was given the name of ‘ba-ala hon- ba apeh’ ‘kills among many’ an homage to Chief Plenty Coup.
When they retired, they moved to her reservation, the Fallon Paiute Shoshone reservation. Adam began a new career as a sculptor and Bobbie began painting native American figures. They opened the Round House Gallery and went to numerous native American arts and crafts show across the nation. Bobbie was known for her beadwork and buckskin shirts.
Bobbie is pre-deceased, by her parents and 8 sisters (Violet, Josephine, Adeline, Tillie, Alberta, Amelia, Vanna, Geraldine, and her youngest brother, Winfred.
She is survived by her husband, Adam Fortunate Eagle Nordwall, children:
Nila Shanley, Asha Nordwall, and Adam Robert Nordwall. Grandchildren include Cody, Jesse, Mishon, Shanley, Benayshe Titus, Mahnee, Che, Shaunte, Tsosie, Dylan, Tonantzin, and Quecholi, She had 14 great grandchildren.
A private ceremony will be held by the family.
