Cordelia I. “Cordie” Purdy (nee Grant), age 92, of Wallingford, PA, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025. Born on January 9, 1933 in Upper Providence Township, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Mary S. Grant (nee Eagle).
Raised in Rutledge, PA, Cordie was a graduate of Ridley High School. In her youth she was an active member of Chambers Memorial Presbyterian Church and a lead soloist in the church choir; her faith remaining a cornerstone throughout her life. Cordie found joy in spending time in both her garden and kitchen, but it was her family that was her true source of happiness and comfort. Her love of her family shone through in the stories she shared with everyone she met - whether anecdotes of her parents and family from Scotland, memories of summers by the bay in Somers Point, NJ, or tales of her early years of marriage and motherhood. Cordie maintained a deep pride in her family both past and present. She will be remembered for her infectious laughter, her warm spirit, and her ability to find the joy in life’s simple blessings.
Cordie was the loving mother of Terry D. Crain and the late Thomas G. and Cynthia L. Crain; adoring grandmother of Christine Polizzi (Thomas), Lindsey Mae Crain, and Morgan Crain; caring great-grandmother of Henry and Olivia Polizzi; devoted sister of Nancy Pierce (the late Edward) and Sheila Buzza (Richard); caring step-mother of Donald A. “Andy” Purdy, Jr., David Purdy, and the late Stephen Purdy; and loving grandmother to Alexandra “Alex” Purdy. She was predeceased by her first husband, Thomas F. Crain and second husband, Donald A. Purdy.
Family and friends are invited to Cordie’s Viewing 10:00-11:00 AM on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at The Knoetgen-Donohue Funeral Home, 746 Kedron Ave, Morton, PA 19070, followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Interment Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
