Corina Lee Marvel

Corina Lee Marvel, 60, of Valparaiso, passed away surrounded by the love of her family after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on September 14, 1965 in Valparaiso, Indiana to Danny and Lenora Mitchell of Chesterton.

A proud graduate of Chesterton High School, Class of 1983, Corina carried the values of her hometown throughout her life. On December 11, 1993, she married Wayne Alan Marvel, who survives. Together they built a life rooted in faith, music and shared devotion.

Corina was a member of Grace Chapel in Valparaiso, where she enjoyed singing in worship services, often alongside Wayne, who accompanied on percussion. Her strong faith guided her daily life. She believed deeply in doing what was right - from everyday interactions to national issues.

She was a beloved wife, daughter and sister. Corina had a joyful spirit and a heart full of simple pleasures: the color purple, cats, Wicked the musical, the Marvel movie universe and anything chocolate. Throughout her life, Corina worked in the service industry, including senior living communities and dining establishments, where she was valued for her kindness, reliability and genuine care for others.

She is survived by her loving husband, Wayne Marvel; her mother, Lenora Mitchell; her sisters, Kim Ranegar (Tony), Stephanie Mitchell, and Marlo Mitchell; her nieces, Megan Ranegar, Jillian Sutton (Jake), Anna Buettell, and Kate Buettell; and her nephew, Daniel Ranegar. She was preceded in death by her father, Danny Lee Mitchell; her grandparents, Lester and Marcia Hiser, and Russ and Esther Mitchell (Mapes); and her mother-in-law, Janet Ballinger.

Corina's faith, her voice and her kindness leave a legacy of love that lives on. She will be deeply missed.

Services are at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, in Chesterton (517 Broadway) on Saturday, March 7, 2026, with a visitation from 10:00 am to 11:30 am and services at 11:30 am. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.ee-fh.com.
