Corliss "Corly" Hoftiezer, 72, was born December 7, 1952 to Don and Geraldine Waege. She passed away August 25, 2025, just 6 days after becoming a great-grandma to her sweet Willow Grace.
Corly was raised on the Waege homestead outside of South Shore. She attended elementary school in Waverly until new district lines were drawn and she was forced to become a Comet. However, her Woodchuck bonds would last a lifetime. While in high school Corly enjoyed sewing her own clothes, running track, and riding her beloved horses. Of these hobbies she passed down exactly zero to her daughters. After high school she worked at the South Shore Café, where she met the handsome town cop, Bill Hoftiezer and on July 19, 1975 they were married. They planned a life together in South Shore with Corly hoping for a house full of boys. 9 months after they were married their first daughter was born. With only boy names picked out they brainstormed and changed Donald Gerald into Donlyn Geri. Two years later, they tried again for a boy, but were blessed with another girl - Kacey Jean. After Kacey was born the couple bought their biggest adventure, Meyers' Rec. When Corly was 33 - and what she thought was too old to be pregnant - she had their youngest daughter, Teri Jo.
The couple was married (10 days short of) 26 years before Bill passed away July 9, 2001.
She began her career in Fiberglass at Fiberglass Unlimited and then FGI. In 1995 Corly joined one of her favorite trainees- Bob Snell, at his new business, Fiberglass Specialties. She worked there until her retirement June 13, 2019 when BJ finally gave her permission to retire. Through Fiberglass Specialties the Snells became like family to Corly.
After retirement she enjoyed serving coffee and breakfast to the "old guys" up at Scotty's, and enjoying daily lunches with Trevor. One thing was certain, Corly loved South Shore.
She will be deeply missed by her three daughters, Doni (George) Holmes, Kacey Hoftiezer, and Teri Jo (Jesse) Haagensen. Her grandchildren Kyle (Kayla), Trevor (Faith), Alex (Aubrie), Correana, Caitlyn, Ethan, Gavyn, Xander, Layne, Sarah, Braxtyn, Lennox, and Gabriel. One great-granddaughter Willow Grace; sister, Linda (Jerry) Jensen; and brother, Clyde Waege.
She will be met in heaven by her husband Bill, parents Don and Gerry, brothers Marley, Ron, and Dale, mother and fathers in law Minnie and George DeKraai, and John "William" Hoftiezer.
We know Kenny will have a Bud Light ready for her.
