Corneilus (Tootie) W. Morton, Sr., 71, of Peoria, Illinois passed away on Thursday, January 04, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 24, 1952 in Peoria, Illinois to Johnny Dailey and Louise Morton.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Aquilla; his children, Christopher Davis, Sr., Peoria, Illinois; Ruth Morton, Peoria, Illinois; Marita (Marcis) Winfrey, Aurora, Colorado; Corneilus W. Morton, Jr., Peoria, Illinois; Robert Wyatt, Peoria, Illinois; Renisha Wyatt, Peoria, Illinois; grandchildren: Jazmine Davis, Amya Winfrey, Isaiah Morton, III, Amyla Morton, Cherisha Morton, Christiana Davis, MaKayla Davis, Christopher Lee Davis, Syleena Davis, Robert Sanders, Janea Cole, Robert Wyatt, Jr., Jayshun Wyatt, Travion Wyatt, Atela Wyatt, Tymond Purdle, Davonte Meyer-Berger; great grandchildren: Travion Wyatt, Jr., Amir Wyatt, Laylani Wyatt; sisters: Linda (Johnny) Charleston, Peoria, Illinois, Martha Vernado, Russellville, Alabama; and best friends: Phillip Funches and Robert Lindsey.
Corneilus loved his family and friends, fishing, and cooking.
He is preceded in death by both his parents; brother, Lester Vernado; three grandsons: Andreas Morton-Jackson, Andre Morton-Jackson, Michael John Shorty, Jr. and best friend, Edward Cagle, Sr.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Cumerford-Clary Funeral Home, 428 W. McClure Ave., Peoria, Illinois at 11:00 am with a visitation from 10:00am to 11:00am. Burial to follow at Lutheran Cemetery. Titus Wyatt will officiate. Online tributes and condolences may be made at www.cumerfordclary.com.
