CORNELIA TAEKO CAPPS

ASHEVILLE - Cornelia Taeko Capps passed away peacefully at 12:15 a.m. on July 6th, following a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was 76 years old.

Born in Okinawa, Japan on February 15, 1949 to the late Misao and Lloyd Wood, Cornelia moved with her family to Brevard, North Carolina as a teenager. She graduated from Brevard High School and later attended the University of Toledo in Ohio. In 1976, she relocated to Asheville, North Carolina, where she met her husband, Charles David Capps. Together, they built a life and raised their son, Samuel “Adam” Capps.

Cornelia is survived by her beloved husband, Charles; her son, Adam; his wife, Lauren; her grandchildren, Luca and Elio Capps; and siblings, Bobby, Judy and Clyde Wood and their families.

A private service will be held for close family.

Cornelia was an exceptionally loving mother and a devoted wife. Her warmth, strength, and unconditional love will forever be felt by her family and the generations to come.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family kindly asks that all who knew Cornelia take a moment to reflect on her life. If you feel compelled, a donation in her memory to Eliada Homes at www.eliada.org would be deeply appreciated.

West Family Funeral Services is honored to be serving Cornelia’s family. Condolences may be offered to the family under her obituary at www.westfamilyfuneralservices.com.
