Cornelius Durant Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DeBaptiste Funeral Homes, Inc. - West Chester on Dec. 9, 2025.
It is with deep love and gratitude that we announce the passing of a truly remarkable man, Cornelius Melvin Durant Sr. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on February 27, 1956 to the late Henry E. Durant and Doris M. (Boyer) Durant. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Henry Durant Jr. "Zach", Bruce Durant and Cynette (Durant) Robinson.

He was educated in the Philadelphia School System, and he received his Diploma from Roxborough High School. He then ventured to Lansdale, P.A in Montgomery County to embark upon his career in wood sealing and restoration, just one of his many trades acquired in the
industrial industry.

At an early age, he accepted Jesus, his Lord Christ and Savior into his life and joined Deliverance Evangelical Church of Philadelphia. He served on the board of Deacons and attended the Seminary School and became an Ordained Minister and there he vowed to spread
the gospel to all that would listen.

Soon after, he met his loving wife, Karen F. (Redmon) Durant of Wilkesboro, N.C, a steadfast Evangelist of the Gospel. Not only taking vows in Holy matrimony to each other together on March 24th, 1979, they vowed to minister with song and preach to various congregations in the
community.

After gaining his place in the Kingdom, Cornelius leaves his spirited strength- "like the wind beneath our wings" with his most cherished memories: His three children: Angela Marie Durant, Rathean Gabrielle Durant and Cornelius Melvin Durant Jr. Ten grandchildren: Bryant, Dimond, Jason, Sean, Antonio, Brianna, Kyseem, Symphani, Aalyah and AaMariah, His love for his Four sisters: Sharon, Claudette, Mary and Dawn. Three brothers: Robert, Tyrone and Michael and as a proud host of nieces, nephews and cousins were endless.

His devotion to friends and community was a testament to the goodness rooted deep within him. Though he has Peacefully returned home to the Lord, his Legacy Remains. His memory will continue to inspire those who loved him to live with the same grace, generosity and faith he embodied so beautifully.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made directly to the service. Thank you. https://www.debaptiste.com/make-a-payment
