Cornelius (Neil) J. Hazel passed away peacefully with his wife Jane (Walsh) by his side on March 6, 2024 at Mary Manning Walsh due to complications of congestive heart failure. Neil was a former NYPD Gold Shield Detective Sergeant. After retiring from the NYPD he had an illustrious career in private security.
He is predeceased by his father Robert, mother Anna (Farley) and brother Robert Hazel; in-laws Joan Vuorenmaa, Hugh Walsh, John Walsh. From a previous marriage he leaves two sons Kerry and Kevin, his wife Ellen (Kravitz). He also leaves his in-laws Lynne Hazel, Barbara Walsh, Susan Hines, Brian Walsh (Carol), Heikki Vuorenmaa, Gerald Walsh (Jacqueline) and Kevin Walsh (Linda) and many family and friends who loved him dearly. He was truly beloved by all who met him. He had a beautiful soul and quick Irish wit.
His wife Jane thanks Lenox Hill Hospital and Mary Manning Walsh's wonderful doctors and caregivers.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, 315 E 47th Street, New York, NY on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 10:00 AM.
