Cortez Sturek, beloved son, father, brother, and friend, passed away, leaving behind many who loved him dearly. Born and raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and La Harpe, Illinois, Cortez had a gift for connecting with people. He loved having meaningful conversations with his family and friends, always bringing laughter and thoughtfulness into the room. Cortez was most proud of his two beautiful daughters, whom he loved deeply and cherished every moment with. Known to many as "Tez," he also had a creative side-he loved to draw and often expressed himself through his art.

Cortez was preceded in death by his grandparents, Linda Hughes, Shirley Sturek, and Richard John Sturek Sr.; grandmother, Ethel "Bird" Victorian-Simms; brother, Anthony Dale Sturek; and nephew, Laquarius Lampkins.

He is survived by his two daughters, Aubrianna Elizabeth Sturek and Emalyn Grace Alred, who were the light of his life.

He is also survived by his parents, Richard (Kelly) Sturek and Stacey Hughes-Sturek; grandfather, Roger Hughes; sisters, Danielle Sirtak, Tiffany Sturek, and Maggie Glant; his mother, Shalanda Cole; brothers, Richard Duke Sturek, Tarik Cole, and Alajawun Cole; sister, Mykala Sturek; uncles, Chad Victorian Sr. and Leo Victoriana; niece, Trinity Grisham; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.

Cortez will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved him.
