Cosimo DiCicco of Sunrise, FL, age 86, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2023. He was born on March 24, 1937, in Rome Italy.
It is a sad day in our family. This morning we lost a great man Cosimo Dicicco whom I was lucky to call Papa, Dad, Pops and for the last 20+ years I called him Nonno. My father was always a voice of encouragement to me, my brothers and my family. I never forget when I decided to change careers and become a hairdresser. He told me you know what you have to do and someday you’ll probably open up the salon, which was never on my mind, he instilled amazing, work ethic and me and my brothers, I always used to laugh when he told me I worked too hard. Compared to how hard my father worked I found that comment amusing. I always felt I never worked enough in comparison to a man who went to work at age 13 to feed his mom, his brother, his grandmother and his uncle and worked 6 some times 7 days a week till he was in his mid 70’s. We were blessed to have him around for so long as we did and blessed that he passed a lot of his mechanical and life knowledge on to us. He and my mother gave us amazing roots back to our hometown in Italy, I always felt a sense of pride when people in Villa, or around the world would call me Cosimino. We were always blessed when he would come to my boys hockey games and even when he made the trip to Toronto to watch my men’s league Hockey tournament. He always told us to be careful when we rode motorcycle which was funny because in Villa people told us when our Father started his bike they would bring there kid in. My father worked hard for his family and we appreciate all the sacrifices he has made in his life. I know that you rest in peace and send my love to all our family and friends in heaven. God bless you Nonno. Your legacy will live on though your family.
