Costina "Green" Bobo

Mrs. Costina Elizabeth (Green) Bobo, January 25, 1932 – September 28, 2025.

Mrs. Costina Elizabeth Bobo, beloved Educator, musician, and community pillar, passed away peacefully at her home in Honea Path, South Carolina, on September 28, 2025, at the age of ninety-three.

Mrs. Bobo was born in Lexington, SC, on January 25, 1932, to John Olin and Jimmie Mae (Wise) Green. After graduating from Lexington Rosenwald School, she earned a B.A. degree from Allen University, Columbia, SC.

From an early age, faith, music, teaching, and family were the driving forces in her life. She began studying piano as a child and later served as a musician at New Bethel AME in Lexington, SC. When she started her teaching career, she served as pianist for the glee club at Geer Gant High School. For over four decades, she faithfully served as the church organist for Liberty Baptist Church. She also welcomed students into her home for private music lessons for many years.

She spent over thirty years shaping young minds, first as a high school teacher, then as an elementary school teacher in Anderson County District Two. She developed bonds with many of her students that continued into their adult years.
She was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church for more than 55 years. She was a Deaconess, a member of the Missionary Society, and taught Sunday School for many years. She shared her faith with warmth and grace.

Costina was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Johnson Bobo; parents; brothers - James, Tommy, Paul, Robert, William "Dub", and Samuel Green; and her sister, Martha Beatrice Green.

She is survived by two sons, Jarvis Bobo, of the home, and Roderick Bobo, of Atlanta, GA; two grandchildren, Kristopher Bobo of Atlanta, GA, and Makayla Bobo of the home; one sister-in-law, Arlene Thomas, of Cleveland, OH; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and other family and dear friends who will carry her memory forward.

Costina's legacy is one of quiet strength, unwavering faith, and a life lived in service to others. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Funeral services are Saturday, October 4, 2025, 1:00 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church, Honea Path, SC; burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the D.B. Walker Ollie Stewart Memorial Chapel,19 Rouse St., Honea Path, SC 29654
