Cown J. "Boone" Clark, 90 of Noblesville, formerly of Thorntown, passed away on October 4, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on September 5, 1934, to the late Garland Cown and Kathryn (Clark) Clark in Hamilton County, Indiana.
Boone was a graduate of Westfield High School, Class of 1954, after high school Boone enlisted in the Army and proudly served his country in the Korean War attaining the rank of Specialist Third Class.
Boone met the love of his life while attending high school and he knew that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her and on October 6, 1957, in Sheridan; Boone married Mabel (Hopkins) Clark and they have been at each other side until her passing on November 12, 2023, the two of them had been married for 66 years.
Boone worked for the City of Carmel and through hard work he eventually became the superintendent over the Utilities Department.
He was very involved in his children's life, when his kids started playing sports he jumped right in coaching football, and baseball in the Westfield Youth Leagues.
He also was there to support Mabel, she played softball in adult leagues for years and he was right there to cheer her on.
Boone was a member of KV Elliott's American Legion Post 67 in Sheridan, he was also a member of Sheridan Six Points Wesleyan Church and Christ Community Life Church.
Boone and Mable enjoyed camping especially with their family, they held a permanent camping spot at Old Mill Run for 15 years. After Boone retired the two of them would pull their camper to Gulf Shores, Alabama and stay there through winter, when spring arrived in Indiana, they would pull the camper back to Old Mill Run in Thorntown.
Family was the most important thing to him and Mabel, and it was important that they raised their family on a strong foundation. He leaves behind his three children Kathy Killen, Jenny (Bill) Higginbotham, and Chris Clark. He was a loving grandfather to Brandy Hoover, Toni (Thomas) Kinney, Kyle (Angie) Killen, Jennifer Higginbotham, Erica (Brian) Cooper, Mellisa Shank, Mollie Higginbotham, Amber (Jeff) Copeland, Jacob (Kim) Clark, and Joshua (Sarah) Clark. He was a proud great grandfather to 26 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sibling Betty Lou Casey. Boone was preceded in death by his wife Mabel in 2023 and his brothers Garland Cowan Clark, Ballard Arthur Clark, his sisters Anna Ruth Beauchamp, Norma Jean Robey, and two infant siblings.
A celebration of Boone's life will be held on Thursday October 10, 2024, at 5:00 pm at One Church located at 18515 N. Union St Westfield, Indiana 46074. where family and friends are invited to gather from 2:00 pm till time of services. Tom Fisher will be officiating Boone's Services. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Westfield Youth Sports PO Box 624 Westfield, Indiana 46074.
