Coy "Junior" Brooks, 90, Springfield, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2025 at Mercy Hospital, Springfield.
He was born July 29, 1935 in Fordland, Missouri, the son of the late Coy and Alline (Clevenger) Brooks.
Coy grew up on a farm in Fordland. While he loved his time there, he couldn't wait to graduate from high school to move to the big city of Springfield. It was there that he met the prettiest woman he had ever seen and quickly made the best decision he said he ever made. Shortly after meeting Barbara he was drafted into the Army where he served his country for his allotted time and then quickly got back to Barbara. They were married June 8, 1957 at High Street Baptist Church in Springfield.
It was then that he started his career with Xerox which lasted until his retirement in 1993. In retirement he spent his time going to flea markets with Barbara and playing golf as much as possible. Coy and Barbara were long time members at High Street Baptist Church and in his later years attended Second Baptist Church in Springfield.
He is survived by a son, Randy Brooks and his wife Wendy, a daughter, Rhonda Edie and her husband John David, three grandsons, Brandon Brooks and his wife Celene, Taylor "J.T." Edie and his wife Ryley, and Austin Edie; a granddaughter, Catherine Edie; three great-grandchildren, Sophia, Landon, and Kinsley; a sister, Judy Haynes and her husband Ronnie; several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Porter, and an infant sister, Jeannie Sue.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 13, 2025 with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. at J.D. Lee and Sons Funeral Home, Rogersville. Burial will follow at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens, Springfield.
