Coy Dean McCarty, age 84, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, passed away on January 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the son of the late Herbert Henry McCarty and the late Nola Belle Coy McCarty of Ohio County, Kentucky.

Coy dedicated 35 years of public service as a dispatcher for the Kentucky State Police, where he was known for his steady voice, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to serving the Commonwealth.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Carolyn (Ragan) McCarty. He leaves behind his children: Elisa McCarty, David McCarty (Kim); stepsons, Jeff Waldrop (Stephanie) and Todd Waldrop (Felicea).

He was a proud grandfather to Ashley Murray, Benjamin McCarty, Nickolas McCarty, Alexandra Guzik, Bradley Waldrop, Shane Waldrop, Autumn Waldrop, Rebecca Waldrop, and Adam Gallagher, and a cherished great-grandfather to six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Coy was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert McCarty, Jr., survived (Linda Sue) of Louisville, KY and survived by a brother James McCarty (Linda) of Bowling Green, Kentucky; and his sister, Linda McClellan (Gerald) of Woodruff, Wisconsin.

Service will be held at the J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel in Bowling Green, Kentucky on Monday, February 2, 2026 noon with interment to follow at Bowling Green Gardens. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026 from 2 until 7 p.m. and again on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Christian Health Care and Hospice of Southern Kentucky for their compassionate care, kindness, and support during this difficult time.

Coy will be remembered for his lifetime of service, his devotion to family, and the quiet strength he shared with all who knew him.
