Craig Russell Durrant, beloved father, brother, and son, passed away on January 31, 2024, in Boise, Idaho. He was born on October 10th, 1964, in Nampa, Idaho, to Clarence Russell Durrant and Marie Booth Durrant. Craig was the eldest of six children and the father of 4 living children.
Craig attended Kuna schools. He was an active member of the community, participating in scouting, FFA, and finding joy in farm work. His mechanical aptitude was evident from a young age, as he could fix anything, with cars and machinery being his specialties. Craig pursued higher education, attending Boise Junior College and Ricks College.
Throughout his life, Craig's greatest passion was following his Savior Jesus Christ. He enjoyed spending time with his family, whether it was attending yearly family reunions, going on camping trips, or simply making time for his children. Craig had a deep understanding of the importance of love and made it his life's work to demonstrate this to his family and extended relatives.
Craig's professional career centered around commercial construction. Building and leadership has been a passion he had since childhood. He found fulfillment in inspiring others through his teaching and leadership. Additionally, he was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served a mission in Jacksonville, Florida, for two years.
In his leisure time, Craig enjoyed various hobbies, including music, dancing, writing, reading, photography, gardening, and farming. He had a keen eye for capturing the beauty of nature through his photographs, particularly enjoying the tranquility of sunsets.
Known for his warm personality and generous spirit, Craig loved teaching others and sharing his knowledge. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and offer support to those in need. His kindness and compassion touched the lives of many, leaving an enduring impact on all who knew him.
Craig is survived by his mother, Marie Booth Durrant, and his four children: Caleb Ethan, Logan Miciah, Adrian Nicole and Devin James Durrant. He is also survived by his siblings: Janet (Derek) Lythgoe, Dennis (Marci) Durrant, Kevin (Crystal) Durrant, Tom (Abby) Durrant, and Sandra (Jit) Gogoi.
Craig Russell Durrant was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Russell Durrant and his nephew Brandon Lythgoe.
A celebration of Craig's life will be held to honor his memory and the profound impact he had on those around him. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his legacy of love, kindness, and leadership continue to inspire us all.
The viewing will begin at 10am, followed by the service at 11am on February 9, 2024 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 224 E Avalon St, Kuna, ID 83634.

I met Craig a week before he passed. He talked about his children the entire time we chatted. How much he loved them. Meeting him was so wonderful! I feel blessed to have gotten even just a short time with him. I learned that his children and family were definitely number 1 in his life.

I went to school in Kuna with Craig for 12 years and lived just a couple of miles down the road growing up. To myself and many who knew him in those early years, Craig was always a kind, gentle and somewhat-misunderstood soul. He was a little goofy, eager to help and a lot of fun once you got to know him. But we didn't know about his dyslexia, and the impact it had on his education. Looking back now, I see the monumental struggles Craig had just trying to decipher the books we all had to use in class back then and how difficult it was for him to put his thoughts down on paper. As it turns out, craig was a very gifted author and profound thinker. We just couldn't see it. I'm embarrassed that I didn't keep better tabs on him after we graduated so that I could have truly appreciated the amazing transformation that took place as he grew into a man.
My nephew worked closely with Craig for several years with Big D builders. He has only good things to say about him and his influence on those around him. In particular, he noted a fellow worker that was struggling in life that Craig mentored and helped. "He literally changed that guy's life," was how my nephew summarized it. What greater tribute could Craig receive.
At our 40-year reunion in 2022, we all noted how much Craig had changed from the goofy kid we thought we knew. What we saw now was a strong, sensitive man who moved easily around the group with thoughtful and engaging conversation; before announcing he was headed into town to go dancing. He was truly a man who had changed, and was continuing to change for the better. I'll miss him and always regret that I didn't have a chance to spend more time with him.

Craig and I were roommates my freshman year at Ricks College. He was also my home teaching companion. We shared a love of music. He had the first cd player I ever saw and I loved listening to his collection of cds...GTR, Pink Floyd, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Simon and Garfunkle, etc.

He taught me how to minister to peers. Up to this point all my assignments had been widows or people older than me. We attended the temple together. We occasionally rode home together for the weekend in his Barracuda or my van. I thought putting the cd player in the jockey box of the Barracuda was pure genius!

Craig had a unique manner of explaining the gospel. Some of those manners I have tried to incorporate into my own life. He influenced me for good and for that I am eternally grateful. Rest in peace my friend!
