Marvin Salmon Durrant ("Jack") Obituary Marvin Salmon Durrant, known to many as "Jack," age 81, of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away on December 23, 2025, in South Jordan, Utah.

Jack was born on August 20, 1944, in Ogden, Utah, to Marvin J. Durrant and Barbara Jean Salmon, both of whom preceded him in death. He grew up in Ogden and attended Mound Fort Elementary and Junior High School, and Ben Lomond High School. Following graduation, Jack served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Brazil. He later pursued higher education at Weber State University.

Jack eventually moved to Chicago, where he was hired by United Airlines and became part of the company's second class of male flight attendants. After ten years of flying, he chose to follow his true passion -furniture and interior design. He enrolled at Parsons School of Design, where he studied furniture and interior design. Jack was especially gifted in drawing, had an exceptional eye for color, and could easily identify a wide variety of woods. After graduating, he was hired by one of Chicago's largest high-end furniture showrooms.

In 1987, Jack and his partner Greg took a leap of faith and moved to Los Angeles. There, Jack's career flourished as he worked in several prestigious showrooms before opening his own successful furniture showroom, which he operated until retiring in 2016. In 2018, Jack and Greg returned to Utah, where Jack enjoyed a well-earned retirement.

Jack is survived by his devoted life partner and spouse of more than 50 years, Gregory R. Palach; his brother Michael D. Durrant (Peggy); brother Robert S. Durrant (Suzanne); sister Jeanne Durrant Owen (Gregory); and brother James A. Durrant (Teri). He is also survived by his 14 beloved nieces and nephews, whom he adored.

No memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack's honor

to APLA (AIDS Project Los Angeles).
