Craig W. Ferguson "Fergie", 72, passed away peacefully on Sunday September 22, 2024 at Ellis Hospital.
Craig was born in Schenectady to the late Marshall and Marie (Kelley) Ferguson and was a graduate of Schalmont High School, he continued his education at Hudson Valley Community College where he earned his associates degree.
Craig spent his entire life in Princetown except for when he served his country in the United States Army from 1972-1975 in Hawaii and South Vietnam.
He worked and retired from Schenectady County Highway Department. He spent time as a diesel mechanic and towards the end of his career, he also drove the fuel truck around to fill up various vehicles used by the county.
Craig was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and be out in nature. Growing up on a horse farm, Craig helped train race horses with his father and brothers and spent a lot of time at the Saratoga Race Course. He's had so many hobbies over the years including bottle collecting, antiquing, car shows, both entering his own classic cars and going to see others. He was a great mechanic who loved to tinker and fix anything. In his earlier years, Craig enjoyed riding his Harley and attending motorcycle rallies with friends. In more recent years, he really enjoyed going to Fonda Raceway to watch his friends race and help them out in the pits. You could always find Craig at his local Stewarts Shop grabbing a coffee and chatting it up with everyone he knew. Most importantly he loved visiting his many friends around town and spending time with his family.
Predeceased by his parents Craig is also predeceased by his two brothers Lee Ferguson and Kelley Ferguson.
He is survived by his daughters Jenna (Jarod) Fessler and Erin (Darin) Ferguson, his sister Rhonda (Fred) Martin, and his former sister-in-law Donna Ferguson. Craig also leaves behind his grandchildren Reyah, Ryan, Everlee and his niece and nephews, Nicole, Fred and Zachary.
Craig was an "AWESOME" father, grandfather and friend to all. He was one of a kind and will be missed greatly by all that knew him.
Services for Craig will be held on October 1, 2024 at 11AM at Bond Funeral Home, 1614 Guilderland Ave, Schenectady. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10-11 at the funeral home. Immediately following the service, a brief graveside burial will be held with military honors at Schenectady Memorial Park, 566 Giffords Church Rd, Schenectady. The family would love to invite everyone for a lunch gathering to celebrate his life afterwards and the location will be announced.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Craig's memory (in honor of his granddaughter Everlee's battle with cancer) to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Delaware.

I´m so sorry for your loss. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Fergie always made me smile. Every time at Karl´s Garage he would bring fries for Dan´s and my dog. Alway brought a smile to everyone´s face. Gonna miss him.

Dear Rhonda,
Please accept my sincerest condolences on the death of your dear brother Craig.
Dear daughters of Craig - Jenna and Erin, please also accept my sincerest condolences on the death of your dear father Craig.
I knew Craig from Schalmont mainly through his brother Lee, both Lee and Craig were fantastically great, generous, and kind people. It was terrible what happened to Lee. I remember seeing Craig sitting on the bench outside of the Rotterdam Five Corners gas station chatting with Mr. Paluti who was himself a fantastic kind person and used to be a janitor at Schalmont and at one time in my early teens was the manager of the baseball team I was on with his son Willie. And I would stop and chat with both Craig and Mr. Paluti. Those were the last times I saw either of them, and I think this was in the early 80s.
Memories are all we have, and I have very good memories of Craig and Lee and Mr. Poluti.
