Craig Johansen, 69, Ryder, ND, passed away Monday, June 3, 2024, in his home.
Craig Sheldon Johansen was born November 5, 1954, the son of Russel and Jeanette (Skogen) Johansen, in Minot, North Dakota. He was raised and educated in Ryder until 1969, when he began attending high school in Makoti. While in high school, he played basketball, baseball, track, and was in band. He graduated in 1972.
Following high school, he attended school in Wahpeton for electronic technology and Fargo for welding. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1973. He proudly served his country until his medical discharge a couple of months later. He then moved to Texas to work in the oil field and at Tom's Vacuum Store.
He returned to North Dakota in 1975. He worked at Sykes, Riverside Radio and TV, and Northwest Projector. He also coached women's softball.
He married Melodi Janke in 1982. They made their home in Minot and in Ryder. They moved to the farm at Ryder in 2000, where they raised beef cattle and farmed small grains.
He was a member of the JC's and Calvary Church, Ryder, and enjoyed hunting, reading, and watching tv.
His loving family includes: wife of 41 years, Melodi; sisters and brothers, Jan Bleeker, Larry (Linda) Johansen, Colleen (Larry) Sorenson, and Darla Osborn; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside Service: Friday, June 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Rosehill Cemetery, Ryder, ND.
Memorials: are preferred to the Rosehill Cemetery in Ryder.
