Craig Newbold Parsons, 74, of Pittsford, NY, beloved husband to Sandra Parsons died October 22, 2024, suddenly on the family property in Tenants Harbor, Maine. His devotion to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to his family, friends and service to others was evident throughout his life in all he did. Born in San Jose, CA on March 10, 1950, he was the son of Allan F. and Sally (Skinner Newbold) Parsons.
At six months old, Craig traveled with his family from San Jose, CA to West Hartford, CT. Craig graduated from William Hall High School in 1968. He enjoyed Boy Scouts, playing the trumpet, and sports such as football, soccer, and baseball. He liked to travel everywhere including abroad as a student ambassador in 1966, by the People-to-People Program started by President Eisenhower.
In 1972, he graduated from Otterbein College (now University) with a BA in Business Administration and a minor in Speech Communications. He was the manager of WOBN, the campus radio station. A successful correspondence course through Weaver Airline school of Kansas City, MO led to a job at American Airlines in reservations in NYC. In 1973 he started a career at British Airways and served in Boston, New York, New Jersey, Los Angeles, and the Upstate NY area based in Rochester. His service included jobs at the Boston A/P, reservations, sales, and marketing. Besides traveling the world, highlights include covering a number of movie studios in the LA area (seeing a number of celebrities off on BA flights), covering a sales territory that included Bermuda, flying the Concorde five times, and being a member of the Skal Club. After a 34-year aviation career, he retired at age 57.
In November of 1974 Craig married Sandra in NYC and spent 50 years happily married together and many years traveling around the world. He was a big time NY Yankees baseball and NY Giants football fan. He enjoyed most types of music with classical, jazz, and easy listening among his favorites. Over the years he worshiped at Pittsford Community Church, Fairport Baptist, Port Clyde Baptist, and the 1st Baptist Church of West Hartford, CT. In his retirement years, he divided his time between Pittsford, NY and St George, ME.
Craig enjoyed working part time over four summers as a deckhand on the Monhegan Ferry and volunteered at the Marshall Point Lighthouse Museum. Craig's smile and his jovial character was like a lighthouse light shining bright in many lives.
