Craig Stears Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Williams-Kampp Funeral Home on Jan. 27, 2026.
Craig Stears, age 73, of Bartlett, Illinois, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love. Craig was a cherished and devoted husband, stepfather, step-grandfather and step–great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering faith will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Craig was the beloved husband of seven years to Susan Mary Stears. He was a loving stepfather to Steven Lowry, Kristen Jorgenson (T.J.), and Jenee Shanahan (Kyle). He was a proud and cherished step-grandfather to Jacob Lowry, Kayla Neff, Jayme Hillmer, Michael Lowry, and Olivia Jorgenson, and a step–great-grandfather to Sage Thomas.

A man of strong faith, Craig loved God deeply and lived his life guided by that faith. His belief was evident in the way he treated others-with patience, compassion, and steady support-and through his devotion to his church and spiritual life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Margaret Stears, and is survived by his brothers, Scott (Susan) Stears and Mark (Irma) Stears. Craig was a devoted uncle to many nieces and nephews, including Allison (Tristan) Rees, Jaclyn (Larry) Nichols, Garrett Stears, Emily Stears, and Kevin Stears, and a proud great-uncle to Charlotte Grace Nichols.

Craig will be remembered for his deep love of family, his gentle spirit, and his steadfast faith. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the love he so freely gave.

Susan, I´m saddened to hear this news of your beloved Craig- please reach out if you need anything. Tom & I always enjoyed our time with you both. Craig was a very warm and generous person who often came over to my Tommy´s house and helped out whenever he could with rides to the cancer center or yard work (usually without saying a word that he had lent a hand.) Heaven has another good one.
