Craig Allen Whitaker, 40, passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 21. 2024. He was born October 25, 1983 in Rockcastle County.

Craig was a remarkable man that went out of his way to help anyone and everyone he possibly could, no matter friend or stranger. He was an incredibly hard worker. His pride and love of his work came second only to the pride and love he had for his wife, children, and grandson. He was an integral part of Bluegrass Poured Walls and Primetime Concrete Pumping for more than 22 years.

He leaves behind to forever grieve his loss his eternally devoted wife of 19 years, Rita Colette Whitaker. He called Rita "My Beautiful" and could not have loved her more. He adored her and their three children, Aaron Beatty (Sydney) Whitaker, Hannah Madison Whitaker, Chloe Arden Whitaker, as well as their grandson Jasper Douglas Whitaker.

There are no words to describe how dedicated to his wife, children, and grandson Craig was. He loved them beyond measure.

Also left to mourn is Craig's brother, John Thomas Dunaway, along with his sister-in-law Heather and their daughters. Craig and Tommy had a very special bond as Tommy has been the only family he could count on for many years.

Craig leaves behind friends too numerous to count, though three dear friends must be recognized as he would want. Michael Wright and David "Bo" Dotson have been stedfast in their loyalty and love for Craig for decades. Never being more than a phone call away day or night. Craig loved Bo and Mike, never taking their friendship for granted.

Craig was most fortunate to have his best friend and big brother by choice, Charles Julian. Craig looked up to Charlie, admiring his dedication to his family and businesses. Charlie and Craig worked and played side by side for nearly 20 years. Craig loved Charlie as much as a brother could.

Craig is also survived by his father Larry Whitaker, a very special uncle, Gary Whitaker, brother Larry Ray Whitaker, and numerous nieces and nephews. He will forever be loved as Uncle Crack.

He also leaves behind a mother-in-law that loved him as her own son, Marion Gene Peel and brothers -in -law Jesse Lane Peel and Hugh Darrell Peel whom he loved like true brothers.

Craig leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and compassion. His wife and children will tirelessly devote themselves to keeping his memory alive so Jasper will always know how amazing his Pa was.

A dear family friend and neighbor, Michael Samaan will graciously be delivering Craig's eulogy at the request of his wife and children.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00AM on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Betts & West Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM on Monday June 24, 2024 at the funeral home. Online guestbook at www.bettsandwestfuneralhome.com
