Craig Zearfoss

1947 - 2025

Craig Gene Zearfoss, 78, died peacefully at home in Frederick, MD, on August 18, 2025. Born in Lebanon, PA, he was the son of Clifford Zearfoss and Alverta Saylor Zearfoss. Along with his late parents, Craig was preceded in death by his brother Ronald Zearfoss.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marusia Raymond Zearfoss, daughter Karyn Zearfoss Murray and son Geoffrey Zearfoss. Also surviving are his brothers James Zearfoss and Bruce Zearfoss, sister Lynette Leedom, grandsons Noah Zearfoss and wife Eikaiva, Jackson Zearfoss, and William Haines.

Craig was an Order of the Arrow Eagle Scout and was proud to have his son follow in his footsteps. He was a founding member of Holy Family Catholic Community of Middletown and eventually became a member and Treasurer of The Church of the Transfiguration in Braddock Heights.

Craig was an exceptional and dedicated teacher, starting at Lebanon High School in his home town and moving on to spend 31 years teaching Math at Frederick High School. Even after retiring, he continued to substitute for FCPS for many years. He touched so many lives that it was hard to go anywhere in Frederick County without a student recognizing him and thanking him for being their teacher.
