Cresente Yalung Fausto, 88, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025. Born in Capas, Tarlac, Philippines, in 1936 to Pilar and Jose Fausto, Cresente was the eldest of seven children: Manuel, Gerino, Policarpio, Faustino, Maria Fe, and Alberto.
In 1960, Cresente earned a degree in chemical engineering and married his college sweetheart, Erlinda, in 1961. Together, they built a life filled with love, commitment, and shared dreams. In 1967, Cresente and his younger brother Gerino moved to the United States to pursue professional opportunities. Shortly thereafter, Erlinda and their two children, Oreste and Mary Ann, joined him, and the family made a home in
Houston, Texas.
Cresente's career as a chemical design and instrument engineer took him around the world, including time spent in the Philippines, California, Guam, and, finally, Texas. He retired as a Staff Process Engineer from Valero after dedicating over 50 years to his profession. Cresente took immense pride in his work as a Professional Chemical Engineer and the lasting impact he made throughout his career.
Cresente led a frugal yet generous life, finding value in even the smallest things, such as straightening discarded nails for future use. He never purchased items based on television commercials, choosing instead to live simply and meaningfully. His generosity was deeply felt by his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.
Cresente's beloved wife, Erlinda, passed away in 2013. Though they were separated by her passing, Cresente's love for her remained unwavering. He often spoke fondly of their years together, and her memory remained a guiding light throughout his life.
Devoted to his family, Cresente enjoyed golf, dog races, and the companionship of his pets. His quiet wisdom, kindness, and work ethic left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Cresente Fausto is survived by his children Oreste and Mary Ann, son-in-law Harry, grandsons Bryan and Nicholas, granddaughter-in-law Caiqian, great-granddaughter Claire, and his siblings Manuel, Gerino, Faustino, Maria Fe, and Alberto.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. We are forever grateful for nearly nine decades of love, wisdom, and devotion.
May he rest in peace.
