Cristina Comella Obituary

Cristina Masoliver Comella

04/07/63 - 10/26/25, aka The Puppet Lady, passed away from lung cancer on Sunday evening, October 26th. She leaves her beloved family here in Taos, and in Catalonia, Spain, and many dear friends near and far, especially in Baja Mexico. She will be forever missed. Cristina lived true to herself. No compromising, no apologies. Her love for northern New Mexico, the land and sky and light that welcomed her to be herself and live a life true to her values, freedom, and creativity. She loved her adobe home that she built adobe by adobe with her own hands. Her goats, who gave her so much, and all of her animals on her Ranchito farm. Her creative self provided a way to be connected to her community. Puppets were played to so many children and families over the years. Generations saw them played in the street, at the Farmers' market, schools, libraries, and homes. Her deep love and gratitude for Taos and the land around it was immense. Her family, her daughter Joelle, son-in-law Cal, grandchildren Jordi and Alfie, and her wife Janice leave a legacy of continued love of Taos and the community. Her family would like to express the deep gratitude they carry for Red Willow Hospice and caregiver Max, whose special care allowed Cristina to remain on her cherished farm to spend her last days surrounded by her four-legged friends, and the beauty of the valley and mountain. A celebration of Cristina's life will be announced at a later date.
