Cruz Vidal Ibarra

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cruz Vidal Ibarra, a beloved son, brother, and friend, who left us far too soon at the age of 18. Born on March 20, 2007, in Odessa, Texas, Cruz moved to Lubbock with his family at the tender age of six. Growing up in a close-knit family, he was known for his vibrant spirit and deep commitment to those he loved.

Cruz graduated from Triumph Public High School in 2025, where he made lasting friendships and nurtured his passion for learning. Employed as a talented drywaller and painter at West Texas Coating, he took great pride in his work and honed his skills with dedication and craft. He had a natural talent for transforming spaces, which mirrored his ability to bring joy and warmth to those around him.

Cruz was deeply anchored in his community and attended Trinity Church, embodying the values he held dear. He found happiness in the simple joys of life-wrestling with his brothers, playing video games, watching his favorite television shows, and tinkering with his Yukon. His laughter and playful spirit will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his father, Juan Ibarra, II; his mother, Guadalupe Sandoval; step-father, Felipe Sandoval; and siblings: Elaine Ovalle, Samantha Ovalle, Desiree Juantos, Destiny Juantos, Juan Ignacio Ibarra, III, Andrew Jay Ibarra, and Arellana Ibarra. He is also mourned by his beloved grandmother, Cruzita Morales.

Cruz will be honored in a celebration of his life on at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 28, 2026 in Sanders Memorial Chapel. Family and friends are invited to gather for the funeral service as a tribute to his spirit, to share stories, to remember the joy he brought into our lives, and to support one another in this time of sorrow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to mental health organizations, promoting understanding and support for those struggling with mental health challenges. Together, we can honor Cruz's memory by fostering awareness and compassion in our communities.

Cruz Viadel Ibarra will forever remain in our hearts, a shining light extinguished too soon but never forgotten. May he rest in peace.
